The free trial
Monthly and yearly plans start with a 7-day free trial on Gumroad. You enter a card at checkout but pay nothing today, and your licence key arrives straight away. Cancel before day 7 in your Gumroad library and you won't be charged.
Your licence key
- Your key is in your Gumroad receipt email, and in your Gumroad library at app.gumroad.com/library.
- Each licence key is for one person.
- Keep it somewhere safe. You'll need it if you set up Cutline on a new computer.
One computer at a time
Your key is active on one computer at a time. Premiere Pro and After Effects on the same computer share that one activation.
To activate, open the Cutline panel in Premiere Pro or After Effects, tick I agree to the licence agreement and the privacy policy, paste your key and click Activate.
Moving to a new computer
- Install Cutline on the new computer as normal.
- Enter your key.
- Cutline sees the key is active on another computer and offers to move it.
- Click Move it here.
The old computer stops working with Cutline at its next licence check. You don't need the old computer to hand, which helps if it's broken, lost or sold.
You can move your key up to 3 times in any 30 days. That covers a new Mac, swapping between a desk and a laptop now and then, or a repair. If you need more, for example a broken computer and a loan machine in the same month, email hello@cutlineai.com.
Deactivating
Selling or wiping a computer? Free your key first. In the panel's Settings tab, click Deactivate on this computer. Your key is then free for another computer.
To take Cutline off a computer completely, choose Remove from this computer in Settings. That frees your key and deletes the panel and Cutline's data. Then remove Cutline in the Claude desktop app under Settings, Extensions.
Working offline
Cutline checks your licence now and then in the background. It keeps working for up to 7 days between successful checks, so a flight, a location shoot or a dead router won't stop you. When you're back online, it checks again by itself.
Claude itself still needs the internet, because the AI runs online.
What the licence server knows
To make the one-computer rule work, Cutline's licence server stores a scrambled (hashed) copy of your key, never the key itself, plus a random device ID that Cutline creates and your computer's name, so it can tell you where the key is active. It stores nothing about your projects or media. The privacy policy lists everything it keeps, and for how long.
Cancelling
Cancel a monthly or yearly plan any time from your Gumroad receipt or library. Cutline keeps working until the end of the period you've paid for. See the refund policy.
Your Claude plan
A Cutline licence doesn't include AI usage. Cutline works through your own Claude account, so the AI usage comes from your Claude plan. For regular editing, a paid plan like Claude Pro or Max is best.
