Cutline

Licence agreement

The agreement you accept when you install or use Cutline.

Version 2026-10-20. Last updated 20 October 2026.

This agreement is between you and Cutline ("we", "us"). You accept it by ticking "I agree to the licence agreement and the privacy policy" in the Cutline panel before you start a free trial or activate a licence key, or by installing or using Cutline. If you don't agree, don't install or use Cutline. You can reach us at hello@cutlineai.com.

When we make a material change to this agreement or the privacy policy, the version number changes and Cutline asks you to accept the new version before you carry on.

What Cutline is

Cutline is software that connects your own AI app to Adobe Premiere Pro and Adobe After Effects, so the AI can make edits in your projects when you ask. "Cutline" here includes the installer, the panel, add-ons, tool updates and the help pages.

The beta

While Cutline is in beta, we give beta testers a free licence to use Cutline Beta for their own work and for testing. Beta features can change or be removed at any time, and the beta can end. Anything you tell us about the beta we may use to improve Cutline, without owing you anything for it. The rest of this agreement applies to the beta too, except the parts about payment.

Your licence

When you buy Cutline or start a free trial, we give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to install and use it:

  • for one person, you;
  • active on one computer at a time, with the licence key we issue to you;
  • for your own work, including paid client work.

You can move your licence between your own computers yourself, from the Cutline panel, up to 3 times in any 30 days.

Add-ons are covered by this licence when your plan includes them or you've bought them.

How long it lasts

  • Monthly and yearly plans. Your licence lasts while your subscription is active. When it ends, Cutline stops working.
  • Free trials. Your licence lasts for the trial period.
  • Founding Edition and other one-off lifetime licences. Your licence has no end date. It includes every future update to Cutline, and the add-ons a Cutline plan includes, for as long as we develop and sell Cutline. "Lifetime" means the life of Cutline, not the life of any particular version of Adobe's apps or your AI app (see "Adobe and AI app changes" below). It can still end under "Ending this agreement" below.

What you may not do

You may not:

  • share, sell, rent, lend or sublicense Cutline or your licence key, or let anyone else use it;
  • copy or redistribute Cutline, apart from normal installation on your own computers;
  • reverse-engineer, decompile, modify or tamper with Cutline to get round licensing, activation, device limits or update checks, or help anyone else do that;
  • remove or change any copyright or licence notices;
  • use Cutline to break the law or anyone else's rights, including copyright.

Nothing here limits rights you have by law that can't be excluded, such as decompiling for interoperability where the law allows it.

No piracy, and respect other services' rules

Cutline's YouTube tools let your AI search YouTube, read a video's details and transcript, and look at frames, so it can find references and check footage. Cutline doesn't download videos and doesn't keep copies of anything it looks at. You agree not to use Cutline, or anything it finds or shows you, to:

  • copy, download, rip, record, re-upload or distribute anyone else's video, audio, images or other content without the right to do so;
  • get round any technical protection, paywall, access control or download restriction, on YouTube or anywhere else;
  • break the terms of YouTube or any other service you reach through Cutline (YouTube's terms apply to your use of YouTube, including through Cutline);
  • make or share infringing, pirated or unlawfully obtained material.

You're responsible for having the rights, licences, permissions and credits for everything you put in your edits. If we reasonably believe Cutline is being used for piracy or to infringe rights, we can suspend or end your licence and stop sending you updates.

If you use Cutline for a business, you also agree to cover our reasonable losses and costs, including legal fees, caused by claims that arise from your breaking this section.

Other services

Cutline works with services we don't control: your AI provider (for example Anthropic's Claude), Adobe's apps, Gumroad, and YouTube. You need your own accounts with them, and their terms apply when you use them. You pay any fees they charge, including for your AI plan. We aren't responsible for their services, changes they make, or how they handle your data.

Cutline is independent software. It isn't made, endorsed or sponsored by Adobe, Anthropic or OpenAI.

You check the edit

Cutline acts on instructions given through an AI. AI can misunderstand, and edits can be wrong.

  • You're responsible for checking every change Cutline makes, and for your finished work.
  • Keep backups of your projects. Cutline offers undo and backup copies, but we can't promise they'll always be available or complete.
  • You're responsible for the material you use, including anything you find, read or look at with Cutline's YouTube tools. Only use material you have the right to use: your own, your client's, with permission, or under a licence such as Creative Commons, with credit.

Updates

Cutline updates itself. Updates can add, change or remove features, for example when Adobe or AI providers change their products. We aim to keep Cutline working with current versions of Premiere Pro, After Effects and supported AI apps, but we can't guarantee it.

Adobe and AI app changes

Cutline depends on software made by other companies: Adobe's apps and their scripting systems, and your AI app. They change these without asking us. For example, Adobe is moving its apps from its older scripting system (ExtendScript) to a newer one (UXP). An update from Adobe, Anthropic or another provider could stop some or all of Cutline working.

When that happens, we'll work to bring Cutline back as quickly as we reasonably can, and we'll post what's affected on cutlineai.com. As far as the law allows:

  • a change another company makes that stops Cutline working, in whole or in part, isn't a breach of this agreement by us;
  • we don't have to keep supporting older versions of Adobe's apps or AI apps, or support a new version by a set date;
  • if a change means Cutline can't reasonably be made to work again, we can stop developing it, and lifetime licences end with it;
  • refunds for these changes follow the refund policy.

If you're on a monthly or yearly plan, you can cancel at any time. Where Adobe lets you keep an older version of its apps, you can keep using Cutline with a version it still works with.

Ownership

Cutline is licensed, not sold. We and our licensors keep all rights in it. Open-source parts are licensed under their own licences, listed in the notices that come with Cutline. Your projects and your work are yours.

Removing Cutline

To remove Cutline from a computer:

  1. In the Cutline panel, open Settings and choose Remove from this computer. This frees your licence for another computer and deletes the panel, the Cutline Companion and Cutline's data on that computer.
  2. In the Claude desktop app, open Settings, then Extensions, and remove Cutline.

Ending this agreement

We can end your licence if you seriously break this agreement, for example by sharing your key or getting round licensing. You can stop using Cutline at any time. When the licence ends, stop using Cutline and uninstall it. The sections "No piracy, and respect other services' rules", "You check the edit", "Ownership", "No warranty", "Limits on our liability" and "Law" still apply after it ends.

No warranty

Cutline is provided as is and as available. As far as the law allows, we don't promise that it will be error-free or uninterrupted, fit for a particular purpose, or work with every version of Adobe's apps or every AI app or plan.

If you're a consumer, you have legal rights, for example under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 in the UK, that this agreement doesn't affect.

Limits on our liability

As far as the law allows:

  • we aren't liable for loss of profits, revenue, business, contracts, data or projects, or for indirect or consequential loss;
  • our total liability to you for everything to do with Cutline is limited to what you paid us for Cutline in the 12 months before the claim.

Nothing here limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else the law doesn't allow us to limit.

Law

This agreement is governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales can hear disputes about it. If you're a consumer living elsewhere in the UK or in the EU, you also keep the protection of your local law and can use your local courts.
